Kite Festival, Jaipur

Attraction : Kite Festival is a popular festival of Jaipur. Kite flying is
enjoyed by people of all age-groups. However, 14 January, the day of Makar Sankranti,
makes the official day for flying kites in Jaipur. People make most out of the festival
by flying kites for the whole day.
The sky becomes next to invisible as innumerable kites cover it. People form groups
and fly kites, to enjoy the event to its full. With each cut loose of a kite, people
fill the environment shouting, "Woh Kata".
Elephant Festival, Jaipur

Attraction : The Elephant Festival of Jaipur is an annual event held in the
month of March, one day before the festival of Holi. This festival highlights the
importance of the majestic animal, elephant.
Dance and music performances liven up the Elephant Festival of Jaipur that attracts
Indian and foreign tourists. The commencement ceremony of the festival includes
elephants festooned with beautiful glittering ornaments and embroidered velvets.
After that, there is a series of violent elephant fights.
Gangaur Fair, Jaipur
Date : 18 March - 19 March 2010

Attraction : Gangaur Festivals holds a special significance for the Rajasthanis.
It is celebrated in honour of Gauri, the goddess of abundance. Young girls adorned
in their best clothes pray for a spouse of their choice. The married ladies pray
for the welfare of their husbands.
The festivities begin almost a fortnight before the actual day. Girls worship the
goddess throughout the preceding fortnight. Colorful images of Gauri are taken out
in procession accompanied by the town band. Thousands of people from the countryside
come to take part in the procession of the image from village to village.
