Hawa Mahal or The 'Palace of Winds' was built in 1799 by the king Sawai Pratap Singh
for the royal ladies to enjoy the procession and day to day activities from the
cool confinement of this majestic facade.

Today it has become the hallmark of the pink city and one of the most photographed
monuments of Jaipur. The five storey semi octagonal is noted for its elaborate
and fanciful mughal architecture.
It comprises of 953 niches and 152 windows, which are exquisitely encrusted with
lace fine screens with over hanging latticed balconies, curvilinear roots, domes
and spires.
