The Nahargarh Fort is the first of the three forts built by Maharaja Sawi Jai Singh II. The fort was constructed mainly in 1734 A.D. However succeeding rulers made further additions in the 19th century A.D.

Sawai Ram Singh II built a series of interconnected rooms with colorful corridors and hallways. These rooms are quite modern in their layout and design, as each of them is an independent unit with kitchens, bathrooms, courtyards, terrace, airy rooms.
There are seprate apartments for summer and winter use and if you look doen from the windows you will discover that care has also been taken to place the apartment in a way that the royal ladies could view the city down below.
Within the ramparts are architectural beauties like Hawa Mandir and Madhavendra Bhawan, which relive and grandeur of bygone era. Today some parts of the fort lie in ruins.
